A Story for Winter
One cold and snowy day, a group of us were gathered together on a staff retreat to spend a few days in the beautiful Smoky Mountains. When we arrived, we discovered that we had no water due to frozen water pipes. I, for one, did not want to spend time without water with a group where there would be no way to cook, bathe, etc. So, I asked everyone to agree with me in prayer according to Matthew 18:19 that the water would flow through those pipes. You see, it's not up to me to figure out how this could happen or to reason out an answer in my mind, I am simply to believe and ask! We prayed a prayer and before the prayer was over, water began to rush out of the faucets! This may seem trivial to some, but not to me when I would have to be in a very uncomfortable setting for a few days. This prayer request was not insignificant to God either. He is concerned about every aspect of our lives. We should not be ambivalent in prayer, but steadfast, believing nothing is impossible to God because He cares about and is interested in our lives! There is power to change things-prayer power!
